So I'm thinking about this thing that I've put on my lap, and seeing many different directions to go with it
Drupal-centric approach
On one hand, I see a route of learning a lot more about Drupal and integrating margin comments into Drupal's comment structure. At this point, I don't know if that is even possible (but I'm guessing it is somehow). I like that for openning it up to things like co-comments, track-backs, and more.
Mashup approach
On the other hand, I could keep the integration with Drupal to a minimun and concentrate on the javascrpts (scriptaculous, really) and data storage possibilities. I like the idea of making an XSLT to take the store of marjinn comments that I (or others, when I make a usable interface) make and produce an SVG graphic of them.
As I write this, I'm becoming even more conscious of the desparate need to make a quick interface for adding in the kinds of margin comment I made in my previous blog post. It's probably daft to make a system for adding a "cf." to the margin of a blog post if it is too cumbersome to actually use. Maybe that should come first, huh?
