Project(s):

The project to produce a 'directory' (whatever that means when working with these kinds of sources) of UMWBlogs took an interesting turn a few weeks ago when I thought that getting at the connections between posts might be a more interesting starting point, and that the most natural way to expose those would be through a sidebar.

Thoughts on Eric Miller's Talk

Tagged:  •    •

I'd been mulling over what to write in response to the talk Eric Miller gave to a small crowd here at UMW -- it was quite a treat. Fortunately, Gardner beat me to the punch with this post in response, so I'll go with responding to Gardner.

Semantic Web in Teaching and Learning -- finally on the doorstep?

Paul Miller at Nodalities posted this responding to thinking going on in the UK at the JISC CETIS 2007 Conference in a session called Semantic Structures for Teac

Mapping Connections and the Zitgist Browser

Tagged:  •    •    •

Frédérick Giasson revealed a pre-release of the zitgist semantic web browser. It's a great leap forward in making RDF data readable and browsable to people who would be perfectly happy in their lives never needing to see the acronym RDF.

Visions of Slicing and Dicing

A small group of the faculty and instructional technology staff have been thinking hard about how to reinvent -- or at least re-present -- the intellectual life of students and faculty on campus. Martha Burtis has started the discussion here.
